01 The Day the Charger stood still

tl;dr:

Hintergrund:

The Regiment Commander's son is out, taking the regiment's mascot Charger-1A1 for a spin. He doesn't come back. The Players need to race a bunch of Pirates and on top of that, the Charger really is in mortal danger.

What really happened:

The Charger ran up the hill behind a famous karst spring, trampling a stack of rare flowers of a natural landmark. While taking a look around the pilot noticed the earth under his mech shifting. Experimentally he stamped the mech's foot. 
The ground gave way under the Charger, leaving him hanging with one leg dangling free, with the shoulder rammed firmly into the cliffside. But not firmly enough: The rock is slowly breaking under the weight of the mech and in 8 rounds, the Charger will drop down the sinkhole. 

In his panic, the rookie called for help - on all frequencies and very loudly. The local pirate crew reacted first. They quickly found the mech and started talking to the rookie, telling him to eject as there was no hope of ever getting the mech out of there again. Then they started carving up the mech's back, just in case he ever did get out.
And that's when the player's Lance shows up. 

Scenario Rules: 

 

Mechs

  • All mechs need to have arms and hands, limiting choice. 
  • At least 4 fully functioning arms are required to pull the Charger out of the hole. This takes one firing phase, mechs cannot shoot and pull. The mechs pulling the Charger must have a combined tonnage greater than that of the Charger.
  • The Scenario was played with: Panther, Hatchetman, Phoenix Hawk, Quickdraw on the side of the pirates versus the Panther, Phoenix Hawk, Hunchback and Griffin of the Rescue Squad. All are 3025 versions.

The Charger

  • The Pilot of the Charger is a rookie with 5 Gunnery and 6 Piloting.
  • The Charger is standing in the sink hole, can't move and is afraid to shoot. Its back armor is completely gone. At the end of round 9, it will break through the roof of the sinkhole, falling 5 levels.
  • Surrounding the Charger is the Lance of Pirates. The Pirate Captain in his Quickdraw will spend the first few rounds taunting the enemy pilots from the cover of the Charger in front of him. He gains half cover from the position and any hits on his legs will hit the Charger instead.
  • Once the Charger is freed

Terrain:

  • The hill's slope rises quite so gently the elevation level steps do not provide cover bonuses.
  • The white limestone cliffs do provide cover bonuses.
  • The players start on the spaces marked red.
